Fat tire biking is a great way to get outside and explore during winter in Alaska. Five inch tires allow you to tackle any terrain and float on top of the snow as we explore Anchorage and the surrounding area. It's perfect for novice bikers as the ride is smooth and the studded tires provide solid traction and grip on snow and ice.

The following scenic fat bike adventure options are the perfect way to explore Anchorage's winter landscape – forested trails, breathtaking mountains, and beautiful woodland streams. We’ll take care of everything from outfitting you with high-quality gear to transporting you to the trail. We pick the biking routes and trails based on snow/trail conditions and weather to help provide the best fat bike experience. All trips have a night-time biking option!

WINTER TRIP TIPS

Layering is key to maintaining a balanced body temperature. Cotton holds onto moisture; we recommend wool or synthetic fabrics as they wick and will help keep you dry, warm and more comfortable. You will work up a sweat, layering allows you to remove clothing as needed. An outer hard shell is important as it keeps the wind out and your body heat in.

PACKING LIST FOR CLIENTS (WINTER). Be prepared and bring the following:

  • Winter gloves/mittens
  • Outer hard shell
  • Warm winter jacket (puffy jacket or parka)
  • Stocking hat
  • Synthetic winter long underwear (top and bottom)
  • Snow pants
  • Wool or heavy winter socks
  • Stiff-soled winter boots
  • Sunglasses
  • Day Pack
  • Change of cloths for after (good if you are going to the brewery)
