The following scenic fat bike adventure options are a perfect way to explore Anchorage's winter landscape. All tours have the option of departing after dark for a chance to see the Aurora Borealis.  Our winter tours are for the active adventurer. Each tour is rated by difficulty, for the most enjoyable experience select a tour that best matches your fitness level, skill and interest. Fat tire bikes are more stable than any other bike as the tires are 4-5 inches wide. We do not shoot for a set millage on our tours, rides range from 5 miles to 10 miles and this is dependent upon trail conditions, rider ability and fitness level.

WINTER TRIP TIPS

Layering is key to maintaining a balanced body temperature. Cotton holds onto moisture; we recommend wool or synthetic fabrics as they wick and will help keep you dry, warm and more comfortable. You will work up a sweat, layering allows you to remove clothing as needed. An outer hard shell is important as it keeps the wind out and your body heat in.

PACKING LIST FOR CLIENTS (WINTER). Be prepared and bring the following:

  • Winter gloves/mittens
  • Outer hard shell
  • Warm winter jacket (puffy jacket or parka)
  • Stocking hat
  • Synthetic winter long underwear (top and bottom)
  • Snow pants
  • Wool or heavy winter socks
  • Stiff-soled winter boots
  • Sunglasses
  • Day Pack
  • Change of clothes for after (good if you are going to the brewery or Wildlife Conservation Center)

* Note: Please note that all times are approximate total trip time from Anchorage. This includes round-trip transportation, set-up and riding time. Transportation time in the winter will vary based on weather and road conditions.
