Experience the thrill of running Iditarod sled dogs as you drive your team through the Alaskan wilderness. Meet and greet our over the top attention-seeking dogs around the campfire and explore life with sled dogs. It’s an adventure different from any other sled dog tour; guests become immersed in the experience. SnowHook Adventure Guides tailors every tour to the needs of the guests if you prefer to sit and ride or want to be a more active participant by driving the sled.
From Anchorage, it is approximately a 75-minute drive to the kennel. Upon arriving at the kennel, a friendly mob of SAGA’s retired dogs meets and greets you. Before heading out on the trail, everyone gathers around the campfire for a brief introduction to the dogs, sled driving, and safety. After that, guests meet the team while we harness the dogs. Then, we pull the snow hook and hit the trail where guests have an opportunity to drive the team. After a 4-5 mile run, we will return to the kennel for pictures and give the dogs some well-earned attention. All winter gear guests need is provided, from coats and snow pants to boots and gloves.
