Biography

Carl is a well-known Alaskan photographer, author, coach, and outdoor instructor. He began mountain biking in 1994 and has been active in Alaska’s cycling community since 2001. As a BICP certified skills instructor and trip leader, he started coaching and instructing in 2012. His work and background also includes trail building, bike mechanic, and mountain biking guide. Carl enjoys old-school technical trails, rallying berms, and exploring wild places on bike, foot, and skis. In 2016, Carl led the first fat bike expedition to the Kobuk Sand Dunes, the northernmost sand dunes on Earth.
